Pembroke College wishes to appoint a part-time, eight-hour Stipendiary Lecturer (Career Development) in History, from 1 September 2021 for two years. We welcome applicants with expertise in any area of European or Global History for the period 1400-1750. The post-holder will be responsible for teaching the first-year course European and World History 3 in Hilary term, contributing to the teaching of Approaches and Disciplines of History and providing further teaching in line with their research expertise.
In addition to the teaching of up to eight hours of tutorials per week, during term time and averaged over the year, the lecturer will be required to work in conjunction with the Fellows in History in arranging teaching and in the admissions process. The successful candidate should have a doctorate, or be very near completion; teaching experience and the willingness to participate in administrative activities and the pastoral oversight of undergraduates will also be taken into consideration.
The stipend will be in the range of £18,341-£20,628 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. This is a fixed term career development post aimed at offering early career academics the opportunity to gain experience in teaching and administration. The successful post-holder will benefit from mentoring, an individually agreed personal development plan, and a personal research and teaching allowance of £1,453.33. They will also have shared use of a teaching room, and an entitlement to take some lunches and dinners in College throughout the year. All salary and stipend figures are 2020-21 rates and are subject to annual uplift.
